Tunnel Work in Vestfold continues

Following the accident in the Hanekleiv tunnel on 28 May, Veidekke has had to relocate its repair crew to other parts of the tunnel while the police and Labour Inspection Authority carry out their investigations. All things considered, the condition of the two injured workers is good: "They got a terrible fright, but fortunately it looks as if they escaped any serious injury," says Veidekke ASA's public relations officer, Helge Dieset.

While the technical and tactical investigations are taking place, Veidekke and the Public Roads Administration are going over the routines once more in order to ensure that nothing like this can happen again.

"It is too early to say what the accident will mean for the completion of the repair work. We hope of course that the road can be opened again on 6 July as planned. There is no reason at the moment to expect any delay, but the investigations will have to be completed and the routines reviewed by the police and the inspectors," Mr. Dieset concludes.
