Two new Swedish board members proposed in Veidekke
Three new board members will be elected at Veidekke's general meeting on Wednesday 5 May. The nomination committee's recommendation proposes that Gro Bakstad (Norwegian) and Annika Billström and Hans von Uthmann (both Swedish) are voted in as new shareholder representatives on the board of Veidekke.
"The Swedish market will be extremely important to Veidekke in the years ahead. Therefore, we also need experience and knowledge of Sweden and Swedish industry on our board. We have been fortunate enough to obtain three new competent board members, who together with the other board members will cover Veidekke's need for versatility, expertise, capacity and continuity in the board", explains Veidekke's CEO, Terje R. Venold.
The nomination committee's recommendation for the new board in Veidekke:
- Martin Mæland (Norwegian, born 1949), to be re-elected for 1 year
- Peder Chr. Løvenskiold (Norwegian, born 1960), to be re-elected for 1 year
- Jette Wigand Knudsen (Danish, born 1951), to be re-elected for 1 year
- Gro Bakstad (Norwegian, born 1966), to be elected for 1 year
- Annika Billström (Swedish, born 1956), to be elected for 1 year
- Hans von Uthmann (Swedish, born 1958), to be elected for 1 year

Gro Bakstad is 43 years old, a Norwegian citizen and holds an MSc in Business and Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, from where she also attained a post graduate degree in auditing. Bakstad has extensive experience from leading positions within economy and finance in Ocean Rig, ProCorp and Posten Norge. She is currently a member of the group management team in Posten Norge, with responsibility for the staff in Economy, Finance, IT, Strategy, Purchasing, Legal, M&A and Property. In 2007, Bakstad was named "Economics Manager of the Year" in Norway. Bakstad is a board member of Farstad Shipping AS.
Annika Billström is 53 years old, a Swedish citizen and has lengthy experience from politics and public sector activities in Sweden. Some of the posts held by Billström include Mayor (Finansborgarråd), Shadow Mayor (Opposisjonsborgarråd) and Head of the Road and Property Commission (Gatu-og fastighetsborgaråd) in Stockholm. She has been a board member in the Swedish Social Democratic Party, and held a number of high public offices. Billström has been on the board of SABO for many years, as well as Sweden's allmännyttiga bostadsföretag, of which 7 years were spent as chair of the board. Billström is currently VD and owner of the recruitment company Inchefia AB.
Hans von Uthmann is 51 years old, a Swedish citizen and holds an MSc in Business and Economics from the school of management in Stockholm. He has held a number of key leadership positions in Swedish industry, such as Vice VD in Vattenfall AB, CEO in Duni AB and AB Svenska Shell. From 1992 to 1994, von Uthmann worked for Shell in Norway. He also holds a number of central directorships, including in the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Fortum OYj and Swedenergy, and is head of Svenska Basketbollforbundet. He is currently associated with the private equity company EQT as an Industrial Advisor.
