Veidekke: New residential project at Straume near Bergen
Veidekke has signed a contract with Sartor Holding AS to build Nygatakvartalet at Straume in Øygarden municipality. The project consists of two buildings with a total of 75 rental apartments and retail premises. The commission is a design and build contract valued at almost NOK 210 million, excluding VAT.
Veidekke has been involved in building Kystbyen at Straume and shaping the new central area of Øygarden municipality from the beginning. The Nygatakvartalet project has long been anticipated in the rental market with a good variation in the type of apartments where many are adapted for older users. One building will have retail premises on the ground floor and an apartment hotel with 55 apartments in the remainder of the building. The second building will have two storeys of retail premises and 20 rental apartments on top.
“One of the things we like best at Veidekke is to get the opportunity to use our creativity and professional expertise, and through close interaction with the client manage to develop excellent projects the market wants. The partnership with Sartor Holding has been developed through many years, and we greatly appreciate the confidence once again shown in us to develop and build yet another project together. Now that Nygatakvartalet has started, we turn to the next page in the ‘book’ and start the development of the next project and a new, interesting journey,” says District Manager Thor Småbrekke with Veidekke Bygg Bergen.
Design work starts immediately. Construction is expected to start in June, with occupation scheduled for February 2025.
