Veidekke: Refurbishing student housing in Oslo

Veidekke’s subsidiary Seby AS has agreed to refurbish 164 apartments for students in Sogn Studentby on behalf of Studentsamskipnaden SiO. The project is structured as a design and build contract with a contract sum just shy of NOK 102 million excluding VAT.

The project includes the refurbishment of existing housing. This will primarily entail new surfaces, kitchens, and the refurbishment of the two bathrooms housed in each apartment unit shared by four students in total. Furthermore, balanced ventilation is to be established and all technical infrastructure in the buildings is to be replaced. The project has prioritised reuse throughout the design phase and the construction site will be free from fossil fuels.

“We are looking forward to taking on yet another collaborative project in partnership with SiO and we are very grateful to them for entrusting this commission to us. This is the fourth major project that we are carrying out on their behalf at Sogn Studentby. The sustainable solutions employed at all stages of the building project are something that suits us down to the ground and which also happen to be in line with Seby and Veidekke’s environmental ambitions,” says Bjørn Ove Liavaag, CEO of Seby AS.

Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2022 and is due for completion in July 2023. Read more about the project here: https://www.sio.no/sogn
