Veidekke has signed a design and build contract with Nystad Stockholm Idrott och skolfastigheter AB for the construction of three full-sized sports facilities at a location between Liljeholmen and Midsommarkransen in Stockholm. The contract has a value of approx. SEK 215 million. Construction will start this spring, with planned completion in 2024.

On the property developed by Nystad for education and sports purposes, Veidekke is also building a new primary school for approximately 1,000 pupils.

“We are happy to have signed the agreement with Veidekke and to start the construction of three new sports facilities with the Stockholm City Sports Administration as a tenant. Primarily dedicated to the city's children and young, this will be Stockholm's finest sports facility,” says Niklas Skerfving, project manager at Nystad Stadsutveckling AB.

The new 8,100 square meters sports facilities, to be named Tellusborgshallen, will be used in both school activities and by sports clubs and associations. In addition to the sports arenas, there are plans for activity rooms, cafe, changing rooms and staff rooms.

“We are very excited to have been awarded this project and look forward to building this great facility. The public building segment is a high priority for us, and this contract proves that we are competitive in the full scope of this contractor category,” says Linus Wåhlin at Veidekke Construction Stockholm.

The project has a clear environmental profile, including sedum planting and a solar cell system on the roof, and will be certified in accordance with the Miljöbyggnad standard.
