Veidekke: To renovate historic building at Copenhagen City Hall Square
Veidekke's Danish subsidiary Hoffman A/S has entered into a contract with Square Copenhagen ApS, part of the German real estate company Proteus, for the renovation and reconstruction of Helmerhus, a historic building located at Copenhagen City Hall Square. The contract value is DKK 580 million.
“We look forward to restoring and transforming a historic Copenhagen landmark with respect for the city – together with Hoffmann and our partners,” says Dr. Jürgen Büllesbach, CEO of Proteus.
Helmerhus was originally constructed in the year 1900. When reconstruction is completed, the building will comprise 15,000 square meters of office space, 1,200 square meters of residential space and 3,000 square meters of retail and F & B space. The project has been developed by Hoffmann, VITA enginiører, Henning Larsen Architects, Emcon and AM Alpha.
“We are excited to be carrying out the transformation of Helmerhus. Located at City Hall Square in the heart of Copenhagen, this is a highly prestigious project which follows in the footsteps of other successful projects Hoffmann has carried out in inner Copenhagen, such as 25Hours Hotel Copenhagen, Tivoli Corner and CitizenM Copenhagen Hotel,” says Torben Bjørk, CEO of Hoffmann A/S.
The contract is included in the Q1 order book.
