Veidekke ASA : Major contract for Veidekke in Lillehammer
Today Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with the Foundation for Student Service in Oppland (SOPP) and USBL for the construction of 360 student bedsits in four environmentally friendly buildings in the Olympic Park in Lillehammer. This will be a turnkey contract valued at NOK 200 million, excluding VAT.
The project is one of the interior's largest construction projects. The student homes, which will be used as the athletes' village during the Youth Olympics in 2016, will be just behind Stampesletta in the centre of Lillehammer. SOPP is to build three buildings with a total of 300 bedsits, while USBL will build one building with 60 bedsits. The combined gross area will be 13,800 m2.
The environment and energy have been central to the development of the project. The buildings will be passive houses with district heating, sorting at the source and bicycle parking for all bedsits. There will be four common rooms, four storage rooms, two ski waxing rooms and one shared laundry in the complex. Each bedsit will be 18 m2 in size with a living room/bedroom, hall, bathroom and mini kitchen.
All buildings will have lifts and toilets for the disabled on each floor. Twenty per cent of the bedsits (72) will have universal access. The buildings are to be erected with in-situ concrete foundations, platform covers with screeds as floor dividers, in situ concrete dividing walls, wood façade elements and flat roofs covered by roofing felt.
The foundation work has been ongoing since the summer, and the flats will be ready for use at the start of term in the autumn of 2015.
