Veidekke Entreprenør has been commissioned to build a new chicken and turkey slaughterhouse at Hærland in Eidsberg, Østfold. This is a turnkey contract for Nortura SA, with a contract value of NOK 107 million excluding VAT.

The new slaughterhouse will be built adjacent to the existing facility. The area will be approximately 9.000 m2 made up of a reception and a production section. The building will have a load-bearing structure of steel and precast concrete sections, with façades of insulated steel sections.
The facility will slaughter and process 12,500 chickens an hour and will be Norway's largest white meat processing plant.

"Construction will be performed in close dialogue with Nortura, advisers from COWI AS and building management from A.L. Høyer Askim AS. The existing production facility beside the building site will remain in continuous operation throughout the building period. This will be an exciting and challenging project for all involved and we are very much looking forward to getting on with the job," says project manager Erik Seiersten of Veidekke Entreprenør's Follo/Indre Østfold district.

Building work has already started and the new slaughterhouse is scheduled for completion in late autumn 2014.
