Veidekke ASA: Building new elementary school in Tvedestrand
Tvedestrand municipality has awarded Veidekke the contract to build a new elementary school at Lyngmyr in Tvedestrand. The contract is a design and build contract valued at NOK 172 million excluding VAT.
The project was won in a price/design competition where Veidekke has partnered with Arkitema on the proposed solution. The new building is around 6,500 m2 in size across three storeys and will accommodate a new elementary school for the whole of Tvedestrand municipality. The school will be built for three parallel classes with room for 525 pupils. In addition there are complete outdoor areas and community facilities of approximately 15,000 m2.
“This project means a lot for Tvedestrand municipality’s inhabitants, who now will have a new, state-of-the-art school for the municipality’s children. Building good school buildings is one of the most meaningful things we as a contractor can do, and we appreciate being awarded the contract. We hope to repeat the success we had in building Tvedestrand upper secondary school and sports park a few years ago, and the project will be an important part of our portfolio in the eastern part of Agder,” says district manager Atle Monan with Veidekke Bygg Agder.
Construction starts as soon as this August, and completion is scheduled for May 2023 so that the school is ready for the start of the school year in 2023.
