Veidekke ASA: JV Veidekke Implenia to build major interchange

In a joint venture with Implenia, Veidekke has been awarded a contract by Trafikverket to build a major interchange at Hjulsta Södra as a part of Förbifart Stockholm. The project is a turnkey contract valued at SEK 737 million.

Among other things, the contract comprises a 650 metre bridge across Mälarbanan, Bällstaån and the E18 motorway. A further 70 metres of bridge and a 200 metre tunnel are also part of the contract. The E18 crosses the construction area, and the dual track of Mälarbanan will be extended to four tracks in the construction period.

Work will commence in March 2017, and construction work is estimated to take five years. The project is a joint venture between Implenia and Veidekke, with a 50 per cent stake each.

Förbifart Stockholm is a new section on the E4 motorway west of Stockholm that will simplify everyday life by linking the northern and southern parts of the city. Förbifart Stockholm will be scaled to cope with 140,000 vehicles per day in 2035.
