Today Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to build the first section of the E134 Damåsen - Saggrenda project near Kongsberg in Buskerud county. The value of the contract is close to NOK 727 million excluding VAT.

The section Veidekke will build is approximately five kilometres and runs from Tislegård in Kongsberg and east to Damåsen (towards Drammen). The contract involves building near three kilometres of four-lane main road, an interchange at Damåsen and the Kongsberg tunnel with a two kilometre, two-bore tunnel. Additionally, approximately one kilometre of the new secondary road 286 is to be built, including a new access road to Damåsen Pukkverk, as well as a parking lot at Diseplass. The contract also includes building the three Damåsen, Diseplass and Majorplassen bridges (passover) and two tunnel portals at the eastern tunnel entry.

- "We are very pleased with the confidence the NPRA has shown us, and that we won the competition for this contract. Together we will complete a first-class project for road users. Here a stretch with a high accident rate will be replaced by a new and safe road for the benefit of both through traffic and traffic to and from Kongsberg and Numedal. Now we are looking forward to getting started with the work," says project manager Neal Nordahl of Veidekke.

The works will commence in June 2015 and completion is planned for November 2018.
