Veidekke Entreprenad has been awarded a new construction contract in conjunction with rehabilitation of the Lidingöbanen tram line outside Stockholm. The principal is Trafikförvaltningen, and the contract is worth approximately SEK 200 million excl. VAT.

Lidingöbanen is a 9 km tram line from Torsvik to Gåshaga Brygge. It is to be upgraded for new cars and greater capacity, and will be linked to Stockholm's remaining network. Veidekke is to build a new double track on parts of the line, rebuild and move several stations and undertake a number of other construction tasks and groundwork.

"In late February Veidekke was awarded a contract for ground and concrete work for a new tram depot at Lidingö worth SEK 150 million. We are obviously very satisfied on winning a new contract for Trafikförvaltningen, and view this as confirmation that our collaborative model is preferred. We look forward to contributing in an important project that simplifies and enhances travel for those using public transport," says Project Manager Anders Bergsten with Veidekke Entreprenad Anläggning Öst.

Construction will start in August, test runs will start in September 2014 and the track will be put into operation from December 2014.
