Veidekke ASA: To build 231 student bedsits in Solna
Stockholm Studentbostäder (SSSB) has awarded Veidekke Entreprenad the contract to build 231 student bedsits in Huvudsta in Solna, just north of Stockholm. This is a turnkey contract valued at SEK 171 million, excluding VAT.
Stockholm has more than 80,000 students, but only 13,000 student homes. The lack of student homes is significant, and was estimated to be between 8,000 and 10,000 homes this spring. The project Veidekke will build in Armégatan in the Huvudsta district in Solna is a part of SSSB's drive to build 2,000 new student homes in the upcoming years. The homes will primarily comprise one room bedsits with their own kitchen area.
"It's a good feeling to initiate building of the 231 new student homes. Even though we are building on our own site, the financial costing has been a challenge until very recently, but in cooperation with Veidekke we have identified solutions that allow us to realize this project. Our constructive dialogue also means that we have been able to increase the number of homes in the project," says Ingrid Gyllfors, managing director of SSSB.

Building start is planned for early next year, and everything is scheduled for occupation in the course of 2017.
