Veidekke ASA: To build a unique environmentally certified office building in Trondheim
Fortin AS has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør the contract to build the next phase of the office complex in Otto Nielsens veg 12 in the Tyholt district of Trondheim. The 9,500 m2 office building is Veidekke's first project in Trondheim built according to the BREEAM Excellent environmental classification. The value of the contract is NOK 171 million excluding VAT.
The building will achieve BREEAM Excellent certification for both the design phase and in use. This entails very strict requirements regarding energy consumption, indoor air quality, choice of materials, waste management and, not least, project management.
"This is a major, important and very interesting contract for Veidekke in Trondheim. In addition to providing our project managers and skilled workers with valuable experience with BREEAM, we also see the award of this contract as confirmation of our expertise and position in the construction of both eco-buildings and offices," says Veidekke's District Manager Ståle Brovold.
The new office building will have an area of 6,800 m2 spread over five floors above ground level, plus a basement of 2,700 m2. The shell of the building will be constructed of in-situ concrete. Work will start in mid-October with the construction of a parking facility for 430 cars, while construction of the actual office building will commence in February 2016. The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2017.
