Veidekke ASA: To build big in Oslo on behalf of Selvaag Bolig and Ferd
Veidekke Entreprenør has been awarded the contract to implement two phases of construction as part of the residential project at the Tiedemann factory in Ensjø, Oslo. The project comprises a total of 380 apartments, and the contract is worth in excess of NOK 600 million excluding VAT.
'We're delighted to have won this tendering competition which will provide us with continuity in our residential construction work at Ensjø. The Tiedemann factory project fits right in with a series of projects we have been involved in the construction of in this area on behalf of OBOS, Urbanium, Wilhelm Jordan and Veidekke Eiendom,' says Department Manager Anders W. Haugen of Veidekke.
The Tiedemann factory will be located in peace and quiet at the end of a cul de sac, surrounded by areas of parkland, small houses and new buildings - all just a few minutes' walk from the Ensjø and Hasle metro stations. The buildings featuring 2, 3 and 4 room apartments will be built using concrete cast on site, with façades comprising primarily bricks or sheet metal and timber cladding. Most of the construction work in terms of groundwork, timber, masonry, and concrete will be carried out by Veidekke's own skilled workers.
'On behalf of Veidekke and the team that worked on the project, I would like to thank Selvaag Bolig og Ferd for the confidence they have shown in us. We are pleased to able to continue the excellent partnership we have established with Selvaag Bolig at Kolbotn and Lørenskog. We're now looking forward to realising yet another beautiful residential project in this area of Oslo,' said Veidekke's CEO, Arne Giske, when the contract was signed.
There has been a lot of interest in the apartments, with good sales so far. Works to demolish the existing buildings on site will commence in September 2016, while construction will begin in the first quarter of 2017.
The first construction phase - worth NOK 270 million - will be included in Veidekke's order backlog for the second quarter of 2016.
