Veidekke's subsidiary Arcona has been commissioned by Uppsala Akademiförvaltning to build new premises for Filmstaden in central Uppsala, Sweden. The project is a collaborative design and build contract to a value of approx. SEK 330 million. Work on the project will start in June 2021 and is scheduled for completion in February 2024.

In collaboration with the client Uppsala Akademiförvaltning, Arcona will build a completely new entertainment complex for Filmstaden on Dragarbrunnsgatan in central Uppsala. A total area of approx. 7,700 square meters will house a 13-screen cinema multiplex as well as business premises and restaurants. The project also includes renovation of the underlying two-level garage.

“Uppsala Akademiförvaltning especially appreciates the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant city center in Uppsala. Nya Filmstaden will provide a long-awaited meeting place for Uppsala's residents and all film buffs. Arcona was selected because of their extensive experience and expertise in such complex projects,” says Kent Berg, CEO of Uppsala Akademiförvaltning.

“We look forward to continuing to develop central Uppsala, this time in collaboration with Uppsala Akademiförvaltning,” says Per Almgren in Arcona. “Being selected to partner with Uppsala Akademiförvaltning is a great honour, and this is an important project in our Uppsala ventures,” says Almgren.
