Veidekke ASA: To build educational premises in Oslo for AVA Eiendom
AVA Eiendom and Veidekke have signed a contract to build environmentally certified educational premises that will accommodate Kristiania University College in Kvadraturen in Oslo city centre. The assignment is a collaborative contract valued at NOK 407 million excluding VAT.
“We are very grateful for the commission and for the renewed trust. This gives us the opportunity to extend the good partnership with AVA Eiendom from the project on Karl Johans gate 14. Building good premises for education and expertise is important to society and something we greatly appreciate doing. We’re looking forward to starting on the project and not least the construction work in around six months’ time,” says Director Anders W. Haugen of Veidekke Bygg Oslo.
Kirkegata 23-25 is in the middle of Oslo city centre and will be a challenging project in terms of logistics and ground conditions. When the project is completed, it will attract 3,000 daily users to the city centre and contribute to further revitalising the area. The project will be undertaken in close collaboration between Veidekke, AVA Eiendom and Kristiania University College.
“We’re looking forward to building a new high-quality building in Oslo city centre. The new Kirkegata 23-25 will be an amazing building and an engine for urban development in Kvadraturen. The project has strong environmental ambitions, and the project will be certified as Breeam Excellent. To us at AVA Eiendom it is especially pleasing that we once again will be working with Veidekke on a new, interesting project,” says general manager Arne Vannebo of AVA Eiendom.
“A new university college building in Kvadraturen is unique. We are looking forward to moving into state-of-the-art educational facilities. The building will complement our properties in Campus Oslo and will make an important contribution on the path to becoming a university for working life,” says Finance Director Pål Nakken with Høyskolen Kristiania.
The interaction phase is well under way, and construction is scheduled to start at the 2021/22 turn of the year. Kristiania University College will take up occupation of the building in May 2024 and will receive students in the new building from the start of the school term in August 2024.
The contract is included in Veidekke's order backlog for Q2 2021.
