Veidekke Anläggning has been awarded a contract by Trafikverket to rebuild the Sörredskorsningen intersection at Hisingen, which is currently controlled by traffic lights, to a grade separated intersection. This will be a turnkey contract valued at SEK 290 million.

In addition to the intersection, the project comprises changes to road 155 and the associated local road network. A bridge with exit and entry lanes will be built above the main road. Road 155 will become wider, and 800 metres of six-lane road will have a new route south of the current route. The road will also have new public transport stops and better accessibility.

"We are very pleased and proud that Trafikverket has shown confidence in us. The project is complex and challenging and is located at a very traffic-intensive stretch. We will involve employees, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors early on in the planning stage to arrive at the best solutions with regard to HSE, time, economy, quality and the environment," says Fredrik Indevall, works manager with Veidekke Anläggning.

The site borders Volvo Cars' factory, which entails high traffic density with approx. 30,000 passing vehicles per day in addition to a large number of commuters. Planning of traffic flow is thus of utmost importance in the project.

Work will commence in March 2017, and construction work is estimated at approximately two and a half years.
