Veidekke ASA: To build Moxy by Marriott-hotel in Bergen

GC Rieber Eiendom has awarded Veidekke the contract to build the new Moxy by Marriott hotel in the finance and technology cluster Solheimsviken in Bergen. The eco-certified Moxy hotel will have 199 rooms and will be the second in Norway for Marriott, which is the world’s largest hotel chain. The contract is a design and build contract valued at around NOK 220 million excluding VAT.

Moxy is known as the Marriott chain’s youthful alibi, and the hotel will adhere to the same concept with modern design and a playful style. The hotel will have great location on the quay’s edge in Solheimsviken in central Bergen. On the seafront there will be a promenade, which along with the building’s restaurant, shall tempt the city’s inhabitants and visitors to take a trip to "Viken". Solheimsviken, together with Marineholmen, is Bergen’s innovation district with a large number of students, startups and established businesses in finance, technology, marine and maritime businesses.

The new hotel will have an overall floor area of 7,800 m2 across six storeys. The building will have a façade with materials and colours with an expression related to the neighbouring building “The Ship” that is currently being built. The building will be certified in accordance with the BREEAM NOR Very Good standard.
