Veidekke ASA: To build new Tverlandet school in Bodoe
Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with Bodø municipality to build the new Tverlandet school, which will be the first school in Bodø to be built as a passive house. This will be a turnkey contract valued at NOK 242 million, excluding VAT.
When pupils arrive for the first day of school in 2019 at the new Tverlandet school, it will have room for 750 pupils from the first to tenth years. 9,400 m2 across two storeys will allow for three classes for each year, all of the required functionality, and a new gymnasium.
"We have taken growth in population at Tverlandet into account. People just have to get started," says Bodø municipality's project supervisor Sissel Olga Pettersen with a smile.
Lødingen school and Tverlandet school will merge when the new school is ready. Pupils at both school have taken part in designing the attractive outdoor areas around their new school.
Pupils have worked in groups who have come up with excellent suggestions on how they would like it. They have been very creative, and will recognize their suggestions when they start at the new school. This has been very inspiring for us during planning as well," Pettersen concludes.
"The new Tverlandet school is the largest school project Veidekke has been involved in in northern Norway, both in terms of pupil numbers and scope of contract. I do believe that schools are among the most important things we build, so this is a large and important project for us," says district manager Ronny Robertsen with Veidekke Entreprenør.
Building work starts in the beginning of April and scheduled for completion in December 2018, and the new building will be ready for use at the start of the school term in the autumn of 2019.
