Veidekke ASA: To build Nordic region's largest wind farm

Fosen Vind has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør the construction contract for the largest of the six wind farms at Fosen in Trøndelag. Work will start in April work on building 60 km of internal roads, 80 turbine foundations and other infrastructure in Storheia wind farm. The value of the contract is around NOK 400 million excluding VAT.

Building wind farms is important and future-oriented work, and we're looking forward to participate in the green shift in Central Norway together with Statkraft and Fosen Vind," says head of department Erik Eiane with Veidekke.

Storheia wind farm is the largest of the six wind farms that Statkraft is developing for Fosen Vind DA. When the wind farm is finished, it will be the Nordic region's largest onshore wind farm. Annual power production will correspond to the consumption of 50,000 Norwegian homes, at more than one billion kWh.

The infrastructure Veidekke will build in the wind farm comprises the following key components:

· 80 turbine foundations with associated sites for assembly cranes

· Approx. 60 kilometres of internal roads, including cable trenches, optical fibre cables and 36 kV high voltage cables

· Drawing of approximately 300,000 metres of cables

· Erection of one service building, a transformer station building and three transformer cells

Construction will commence in April/May, and when the work is completed the wind farm will be ready for the erection of wind turbines from the second quarter of 2019. For more information about the project please visit: www.fosenvind.no/vindparkene/storheia-vindpark/
