Veidekke ASA: To build parking facility in rock cavern in Kristiansand
Veidekke has been commissioned by Kanalbyen Eiendom AS to build a parking facility with 341 parking spaces in a rock cavern on Odderøya in Kristiansand. The contract is a turnkey contract valued at NOK 130 million excluding VAT.
The project has been developed in close partnership between Veidekke and Kanalbyen Eiendom. Kanalbyen has very attractive location, and by placing the parking facility in a rock cavern, the area will remain open, inclusive and accessible while the residents will only have a short distance to their cars.
“We greatly appreciate the contract. Here we will be able to exploit our building and construction expertise in the best possible manner. Now we are looking forward to starting the construction work with our local partners in the summer,” says project director Bernt Wilhelmsen with Veidekke.
Kanalbyen is a new city district on Odderøya within a short walking distance to Kristiansand city centre. Around 700 apartments are planned here with the sea on one side, the forest on the other side and a canal through the middle. The first residents took up occupation in 2019, and currently the third of a total of seven building stages is under construction.
Work on the parking facility is scheduled to start in May or June, with completion expected before Christmas in 2022. More information about Kanalbyen is available here: https://www.kanalbyen.no/
