Veidekke ASA: To build student accommodation in Hønefoss

Veidekke Entreprenør AS has entered into a contract with the Buskerud and Vestfold Student Welfare Organization to build housing for 154 students at Campus Ringerike. The housing will be built as passive houses with the main structures in massive wood. The value of the contract is NOK 109 million excluding VAT.

In the plan to develop a sustainable city campus in Hønefoss, Veidekke has been chosen as partner to design and build the new student accommodation. The project comprises two blocks of flats that are 4 and 5 floors respectively, above a daylight basement floor with commercial premises for university college related activities, storage rooms, a parking basement and laundry for the students.

The project has been developed in collaboration with the Buskerud and Vestfold Student Welfare Organization (SiBV), Veidekke and Code: arkitektur as. "We are proud and pleased with the confidence SiBV has shown in Veidekke by awarding us this contract. Through close and good cooperation we have been given the opportunity to contribute with our contracting expertise early on in this project, and it is very satisfying that it has led to yet another sustainable environmental project," says district manager Sverre Liavaag of Veidekke Entreprenør in Buskerud.

"Thanks to a determined and professional client, we have already started foundation work. Assembly of the massive wood structure will commence by the end of the year, and the entire project is slated for completion for the start of school in 2016," Liavaag concludes.

The contract is included in Veidekke's order backlog for Q2.
