Veidekke has been commissioned to build 96 student flats and a preschool with a production kitchen in Årsta, Stockholm. The project, known as the Gisslaren Block, is a design and build contract worth SEK 127 million with estimated completion in Q2 2021.

The construction will be carried out in accordance with the environmental standard Miljöbyggnad Silver and will also include an existing duct that supplies air to various service rooms in the Södra Länken motorway.

“We appreciate being entrusted with this project and look forward to working closely with Familjebostäder in Stockholm. This is our third student housing project, and we will utilise all of our experience from the previous projects to create the best conditions for the Gisslaren Block. Collaboration and involvement are key to being able to deliver a project on time, with the right quality and high security,” says Gunilla Lindgren, Construction Manager at Veidekke Bygg Bostäder Stockholm.

The project is part of the second stage of the Årstastråket urban development area, where the City of Stockholm is planning for approx. 3,000 new residential units in the area from Årstafältet in the west to Slakthusområdet in the east.
