Veidekke's CEO Arne Giske has signed a contract with Oslo Lufthavn AS to carry out construction work and lay new asphalt on the western runway at Gardermoen. The value of the contract is NOK 125 million excluding VAT.

In addition to the asphalt work, other work will be carried out at the site of the runway in steps while the runway is partly open for traffic. This includes preparations for a so-called quick exit from the runway, an upgrade to centre line lights on taxiways C2 to C6 and preparations for landing zone lights on the western runway.

The area where existing asphalt is to be removed and then resurfaced is 180,000 m2: The runway is 3,600 metres in length with 300 metres of concrete surfacing at each end, and it is 45 metres wide with an additional 7.5 metre shoulders on each side. The thickness of the new asphalt layer is approx. 10 centimetres, and around 45,000 tons of asphalt will be used.

Work starts in April and is due for completion in August.
