Veidekkes subsidiary Block Berge Bygg has entered into an agreement with Storebrand Eiendom to rehabilitate and redevelop the Kvadrat Nord shopping centre in Sandnes. This will be a turnkey contract valued at NOK 104 million, excluding VAT.

The project has been developed by Storebrand Eiendom in collaboration with Block Berge Bygg and comprises approx 2,000 m² of new area inside the existing centre and 16,000 m² that is to be rehabilitated or that is affected by the redevelopment. After the redevelopment the centre will have new common areas and new, exciting shops.

The project also entails a significant extent of own production for Block Berge Bygg, as several internal structures are to be demolished and new floors are to be established with accompanying structural reinforcements.

Block Berge Bygg has recently completed the work on building a new south entrance for the Kvadrat shopping centre. "We are very pleased that Storebrand Eiendom once again has chosen Block Berge Bygg as partner. We have long experience and extensive expertise in carrying out construction projects in shopping centres that are in full operation, where our prefabricated solutions enable developments within given timeframes," says managing director Yngvar Karlsen of Block Berge Bygg AS..

Planning is well under way, and the actual work starts after Christmas. The new centre will be ready for the Christmas season in 2016.
