Veidekke ASA: To renovate office building in Stockholm
Today Veidekke's subsidiary Arcona was awarded the contract from Bonnier Fastigheter to renovate and extend an office building in Vasastaden in the centre of Stockholm. The project, which is named Atlas Garden, will have environmental certification (BREEAM), and the collaborative contract is valued at SEK 143 million excluding VAT.
The property has formerly housed the Swedish Security Service (Säpo). The building will now be completely renovated with a new glass and steel façade, and an additional storey will be added. All technical installations will be replaced in order to achieve a modern, energy-efficient and environmentally smart building that will also have BREEAM certification.
"The project is just next to the railway tracks, which imposes high demands toward fire and noise requirements, in addition to complicating logistics. The greatest challenge for us is to establish an efficient flow of production with as little effect as possible on the neighbourhood, while also taking into account that the schedule is tight," says Arcona's project manager Ann Bjurström.
"We are looking forward to a good partnership with Arcona on this challenging project. The architectural ambitions and the location will mean that demands toward towards efficient planning and management of the project will be tough," says project manager Lars Johansson with Bonnier Fastigheter AB.
