Avinor has awarded Veidekke the contract to resurface the eastern runway at Oslo Airport this summer. In addition, the contract includes extending the shoulders of the runway. The value of the contract is NOK 135 million excluding VAT.

The contract includes removing the existing asphalt surface and laying a new surface 45 metres wide at a length of 2,380 metres. This will amount to approximately 70,000 tons of asphalt that also includes existing exits from the runway to taxiways. In addition, the shoulders shall be extended to operate large aircraft and improve safety.

Veidekke won the competition for the contract in accordance with award criteria that included price, expertise and quality. It will be a very hectic construction period as much of the work will be carried out as weekend and night work to reduce disadvantages to the airport’s operation.

Veidekke has had continuous asphalt and construction work at Oslo Airport since 2014, and is currently involved in construction work for the extension of the non-Schengen area. Planning of the work starts immediately, and construction work starts after Easter.
