Veidekke subsidiary Norske Stålbygg has been engaged to build a new car sales centre for Bertel O. Steen in Lørenskog, north of Oslo. The design and build contract is valued at NOK 128 million excluding value added tax.

The car and real estate group's new flagship building will have an area of almost 8,000 m 2, divided into 5,820 m 2 of display and retail space, a customer centre with a café and cafeteria totalling 1,130 m 2 and 1,000 m 2 of offices and meeting rooms. The building will be situated in front of Bertel O. Steen's head office at Solheimveien 11-15 in Lørenskog, Akershus County.

The project, which has been developed collaboratively by the client and the contractor, is Norske Stålbygg's second car facility project for Bertel O. Steen.

"Norske Stålbygg was engaged to construct Bertel O. Steen's facility in Sandefjord, and did an excellent job. Norske Stålbygg also submitted the most creative tender and demonstrated the strongest commitment in the run-up to the collaborative design phase. We regard Norske Stålbygg as a professional, attractive partner with high ambitions on our behalf," says Bertel O. Steen Eiendom AS CEO Øivind Solbakken.

"Bertel O. Steen's decision to partner with us on this project is a declaration of continued confidence. We very much look forward to getting started on the project," says Norske Stålbygg managing director Terje Kaasa Larsen.

Start-up is scheduled for August, and completion for Q4 2019.
