At Huddinge Hospital south of Stockholm, Veidekke has been awarded the contract by TKV Fastighet AB to build a teaching building and laboratory with a floor area of 20,000 m2. This is a turnkey contract valued at SEK 317 million, excluding VAT.

A challenge in the project is to create as little disturbance as possible for ongoing hospital operations, and an innovative logistics solution has been used to reduce traffic loads. Both Veidekke Entreprenad and subsidiary Arcona will make use of their extensive experience in building customized training facilities in this project. The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) work methodology will be used in the project with 3D models to ease interaction and involvement between all parties and to ensure short and efficient decision processes.

"We have chosen Arcona and Veidekke as partners because they presented the best plan for how this complex project could be built in parallel with ongoing hospital operations. They could also offer a coordinated organization with good conditions for the transfer of experience from previously completed projects," says project supervisor Håkan Karlsson of TKV.

The project is called "Technology for Health - Medicinaren 5." The main tenant will be Kungliga Tekniske Högskolan (KTH), but the Red Cross's nurse training will also have premises in the new building. Construction starts in June and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.
