Veidekke Awarded Contract for Construction of new Double Railway Track between Sandvika and Asker

Veidekke ASA and The Norwegian National Rail Administration (JBV) have signed a contract for the construction of a part of the new double railway track between Sandvika and Asker on the outskirts of Oslo. The contract value is approximately NOK 400 million.

The contract is for a 1,300 meters railway line and includes

· Construction of new railway bridges and rebuilding of existing bridges
· Construction of new pedestrian crossings across the railway lines
· One double track and two single track concrete tunnels
· Supporting walls, new underground pedestrian crossings and bicycling lanes
· Support constructions and technical installations, etc.


"The work will start immediately. The construction period will be two and a half years, so the project will be handed over in May 2004," says Mr. Opsahl.
