In a joint venture with Veidekke's construction operations in Norway, Veidekke's subsidiary in Gothenburg, Vecon, has signed two contracts with the Swedish Public Roads Authorities (Svenske Vägverket). The contracts are valued at SEK 170 million.

Joint-venture
The work will be executed in co-operation with Veidekke's construction operations in Norway.

"This is a joint-venture of which we have 60 per cent and Veidekke 40 per cent," Mr. Alexandersson explains. "By co-operating on projects of this kind within the group, we have a more competitive position when negotiations for contracts start," he says.

The Contracts
The largest contract is for section E6 Hogdal - Nordby E2 in Bohuslän (Sweden). The contract includes 2.7 km four-lane road and 6 km of additional roads. Two bridges, each approximately 220 m long, and a 200 m long supporting wall are also included. The contract is a turn-key contract of SEK 123 million. Completion date has been set for March 2003.

The second contract is for the construction of a road and two bridges in Ekshärad in Värmland (Sweden). The longest bridge has a length of 123 m and will be constructed of steel and concrete. The other bridge is 31 m long and will be made of concrete. In addition, a road of approximately 900 m will be built in connection with the bridges. The contract is a turn-key contract of SEK 47 million. The construction work will start in August this year and will be completed in October 2003.
