Veidekke subsidiary Norske Stålbygg AS has signed a contract with Sektor EiendomsUtvikling for the construction of the Herkules Shopping Centre in Skien, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 95 million excluding VAT.

The project is a turnkey contract, consisting of demolition, refurbishment and new-build on a site of just under 15,000 square metres. Norske Stålbygg AS has designed and developed the project over a period of almost three years in close consultation with the customer.

"This is a clear indication of the added-value inherent in working closely together with an expert and long-term partner such as us. And in these difficult times, it is reassuring to discover that we are still an attractive partner, winning a project which will secure turnover and employment through 2010," states Norske Stålbygg AS' Managing Director, Hans Gunnar Dokken.

"We are delighted with the contract. Norske Stålbygg AS has been a key partner and exhibited impressive staying power. Sektor EiendomsUtvikling AS has developed the Herkules site over several years, and the shopping centre - which will cover approx. 15,000 square metres - will complement the existing 40,000 square metre centre," says Development Director at Sektor EiendomsUtvikling AS, Petter Falkgård Andersen.

Work has started, and will be completed in time for Christmas trading in 2010.
