Veidekke contract for Midgardsormen in Oslo

Veidekke Entreprenør AS has signed a contract with Oslo municipality, Oslo Water and Sewerage Works (VAV), for the construction of the Midgardsormen sub-project A. The contract comprises a cavern facility in connection with Bekkelaget treatment plant, and the value of the contract is NOK 234 million excluding VAT.

 

According to the contract, Veidekke is to build tunnels, caverns and shafts at Bekkelaget treatment plant, as well as a transit tunnel to Gamlebyen and a discharge tunnel to the sea. The contract is one of a total of eight sub-projects which combined represent the largest investment in drainage that has been carried out in Norway so far.

Start-up is planned for the winter of 2011, and construction is expected to take approx. two and a half years.
