Veidekke has won contracts worth NOK 127 million for two new hydro-electric power plants

Veidekke has been awarded the contracts for the construction of two new hydro-electric power plants; the Åbjøra Power Plant in the county of Oppland and the Sage Power Plant in the county of Sogn og Fjordane.


Åbjøra
Åbjøra Power Plant is situated in Aurdal in the county of Oppland. Builder is Vestfold Kraft Energi AS. This contract is a main contract in connection with the rebuilding of an existing power plant. The contract includes the construction of a new power station, as well as approximately 1,800m of new tunnels and a new pressure shaft. The work will be completed by the end of 2002. When rebuilt the power plant will have an output of approximately 95MW.


Sage
Sage Power Plant is a turn-key project developed by Veidekke in cooperation with Luster Energiverk. The new plant will replace the existing power plant with a penstock in the open. The contract includes construction of tunnels, a power station in rock, a pressure shaft and the reconstruction of an existing dam. As part of the contract, Veidekke is also responsible for providing and installing the turbine, generator and control devices.


The project will be completed in December 2001. The new power plant will have an output of 8.5 MW. Estimated annual production is approximately 35 GW.
