Veidekke Is Building The Dalvatn Power Plant In Sauda

Veidekke Entreprenør AS has been awarded a contract by Elkem Saudefaldene AS to carry out construction and refurbishment work at Dalvatn power plant. The value of the contract is about NOK 65 million excl. VAT.
This is a main contract covering all the structural work for Dalvatn power station. It comprises the construction of a 1,300 metre-long headrace tunnel and pipe trench through rock from Holmavatn Lake to the new and old power plants, including i.a. drainage channel, structure for the inlet gate and gate shaft.


The existing pipe trench will be phased out and a new feed pipe will be connected upstream of the existing power plant. The new power plant will be built of concrete below ground and erected as a steel structure with wood cladding above ground. The existing plant will have the same cladding as the new building.


The work has started recently and the completion date is 26 September 2006.
