Veidekke Entreprenør as has developed and applied for a licence for the Kjøsnesfjorden power plant in Jølster on behalf of Kjøsnesfjorden Kraftverk AS. The contract price is NOK 500 million excl. VAT.
This is a turnkey contract for the construction work of a power plant, which will be built into the rock, 20 km of tunnels, 700 m of shafts, two rockfill dams, eleven stream intakes, and complete structural and secondary engineering work. Veidekke also has the design responsibility for the project.

When completed the Kjøsnesfjorden power plant, which is located in Jølster in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, will have a capacity of 70 MW and a production of 240 GWh.

"We are very glad that the work is finally underway. Veidekke has a great deal of expertise when it comes to hydropower development, and we have been involved in the development of this project for several years," says Project Manager Øistein Brandt.

"This is probably also one of the last projects of its type and size in Norway," he adds.

Veidekke expects to employ fifty persons on the four-year construction project. The new power plant will go into operation in July 2010.
