OBOS and Veidekke Eiendom AS have awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract for the construction of Phase I of the Sjølyststranda project in Oslo. The contract value is approximately NOK 280 million excluding VAT.
On the old Norway Trade Fairs exhibition site at Skøyen, the first stage of the Sjølyststranda development project has just started. The contract involves the construction of 110 high-standard flats and parking facilities for 380 vehicles in a two-storey basement. A lid over the E18 highway is also included in the contract.

The flats will range in size from 45 to 170 m2 and have two, three or four rooms. All of the flats will have a balcony and most of them will have a sea view. There will be elevators from the parking area in the basement to all floors.

The lid over the E18 highway will be 32 metres wide and 170 metres long. It will have a free span across six lanes. The lid will be planted with trees, grass, etc. and it will have direct access via pedestrian and cycle paths to Bygdøy and the sea. The green lid will be completed at the same time as the flats.

Demolition of the existing buildings has just started, and the first flats will be ready for occupancy by the end of April 2005.
