Botniabanan AB has given Veidekke the contract for construction of a 182 m long railway bridge across Hällviken, 10 km south of Örnsköldsvik. The contract price is approximately SEK 28 million. Construction will start in August 2004 and the project is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2005. The railway bridge will be built in concrete in accordance with the prize-winning design of the architectural competition "Botniabanans broar" (Bridges of the Botnia railway line). The winner was a Danish firm of architects, Dissing+Weitling+Cowi of Copenhagen.

Veidekke is already working in the Hällviken area on the construction of a 7 km long railway with two tunnels. The new contract for the railway bridge across Hällviken will complete the former contract.

In addition, Botniabanan AB has asked Veidekke Stockholm AB to complete the excavation work etc. on an 800 m long section close to another previously completed by Veidekke. The contract price is approximately SEK 10 million. The work started in April and is to be completed in the course of August 2004.

Veidekke Stockholm AB has signed two more contracts with Vattenfall Värme Uppsala for construction on the waste incineration plant. One is for the construction of a new hall for reception of slag from the waste incineration plant; the other is for renovation of the surface of a floor in the existing reception hall. In addition, von Roll INOVA, on behalf of Vattenfall Värme Uppsala, has asked Veidekke to build a base, foundation and a reservoir for a cooling tower designed for a district cooling system generated by heat pumps at Brännugnen. Total price for the two contracts is SEK 10.4 million.

Veidekke Stockholm and Vägverket, Region Mälardalen have signed contract for the construction of a new road between he existing E4 at Björklinge, some 20 km north of Uppsala and the new stretch on the E4. The contract, which will be executed in cooperation with Vägverket Produktion, cosists of 5 km of two-lane supporting roads, bridges and arrival lanes. The contract price is SEK 44.8 million, of which Veidekke has a 50% share. The road will be handed over to the road authorities by the end of autumn 2005.
