On 27 February 2003, Veidekke was informed by the Norwegian Competition Authority that it has reported the results of its investigations of the building and construction industry to Økokrim (Norway's commercial crime unit).
"We are sorry that the Competition Authority has found reason to refer the matter to Økokrim," says Veidekke's President & CEO Terje R. Venold.

"We take any suspicion of irregularities seriously at Veidekke, and we will do everything we can to help Økokrim to clarify the matter as efficiently and thoroughly as possible," he says.

"As soon as Veidekke is given access to it, we will study the information in the material the Competition Authority has sent over to Økokrim. We don't want to put forward any possible conclusions of this work. The important thing is that we make ourselves familiar with the matter and then follow it up in the best possible way," says Mr. Venold.

"We have already updated and reviewed our compliance programme internally, in order to make sure that everyone at Veidekke complies with the laws and regulations in force at all times," says Mr Venold.

"As long as the matter is under investigation, we neither can nor will make any further comment," he concludes.
