Veidekke Entreprenør AS has been commissioned by the Public Roads Administration, Østfold Region, to build the Momarken - Sekkelsten stretch of the E18 highway in the county of Østfold. The contract price is approximately NOK 106 million exclusive of VAT.

The contract is for 6.2 kilometres of a four-lane highway. The work comprises construction of the road structure, open ditches, cable routing and lighting systems and asphalt paving, as well as green areas and fences for game protection.

Construction is scheduled to start on 1 August 2006. The road itself will be completed by 26 October 2007, whilst the green areas will be completed in May 2008.

On average, a staff of about 30 people will be working on the project.

"This is a very welcome contract, as we have recently completed some large road construction projects in the district. The new contract fits in well with our other projects and capacity," says District Manager Lars Hovland of Veidekke Entreprenør AS.

"In the past few years, Veidekke has carried out a number of large projects in connection with the development of the E6 highway in Østfold, but we have not yet been involved in the construction of the new E18 across the north of the county," Hovland says.
