Veidekke has been awarded the contract to build Nærbyen centre with 154 apartments, shops and a parking facility near Lerkendal in central Trondheim. The client is Sorgenfri Utbyggingsselskap, which is jointly owned 50/50 by Frost Holding and Veidekke Eiendom. This is a turnkey contract valued at NOK 308 million, excluding VAT.

Veidekke will build eight blocks from three to eight storeys in height, with a total of 154 apartments ranging from 24 m2 bedsits to 115 m2 two bedroom apartments. Additionally, close to 3,000 m2 of commercial property will be built, with 4-5 smaller shops, a restaurant and Kiwi grocery store, in addition to a parking facility with 200 indoor parking spaces.

"This will be an attractive centre within a short distance of most facilities and modern and varied apartments. There will be extensive concrete works during construction that we are looking forward to starting. Everyone taking part in construction has been involved in the planning with the client right from the start. This ensures a good construction process, which in turn will benefit the customers," says district manager Ståle Brovold of Veidekke Entreprenør Trøndelag.

At this stage 50 % of the apartments are sold, and 70 % of the commercial property have a rental agreement. Construction starts during March. The homes will be ready for occupation after Christmas 2019, while the grocery store will open in November 2019.
