Veidekke Entreprenør has entered into a contract with Avantor to build new headquarters for Statnett in Nydalen in Oslo. This will be a turnkey contract valued at NOK 380 million, excluding VAT.

The office building will have a floor area of 28,000 m2 and will include almost 1,000 workplaces, a meeting centre and 150 parking spaces across seven floors above ground and three underground levels. The building will have universal design and a high level of security for employees and the tasks to be carried out by Statnett.

In the design of Statnett's new headquarters emphasis has been on ensuring optimum comfort and minimal energy consumption, while also achieving full flexibility in terms of furnishing and fittings. Energy for heating and cooling will be supplied by Nydalen Energisentral, which through the use of energy wells in the ground ensure efficient and environmentally friendly energy use.

Significant amounts of polluted material from previous industrial activities are to be excavated in connection with the project. This work is to be carried out by Dokken AS, a Veidekke subsidiary with expertise in the field of treating polluted ground.

Construction starts in February and is to be completed by the end of 2012.
