Veidekke to Build New Pedestrian Subway at Kongsberg Station

Jernbaneverket Region Sør (the Norwegian National Rail Administration) has awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract for a new subway at the Kongsberg railway station. The contract price is NOK 21 million excluding VAT.
The contract includes the construction of a new subway and access for pedestrians and cyclists to the middle platform. The culvert will be made of concrete and will be approximately 80 metres long with an access ramp of approximately 60 metres to the north and a spiral walkway to the south.


There will be stairs at each end of the culvert and a lift up to the middle platform. All pedestrian areas will have underfloor heating and slate surfacing. A new drainage system for storm water will also be established in the area.


The contract price is NOK 21 million excluding VAT. The construction work has just started and the new subway is scheduled for completion by 31 October 2004.
