Trondheim Energiverk Fjernvarme AS has awarded a contract for construction of a new line 3 at Heimdal Varmesentral (heating plant) to Veidekke Entreprenør AS' Trondheim District. This is a turn-key contract worth NOK 137 million excluding VAT.
The contract includes planning, design and construction of a terminal, waste storage pit, slag storage pit, buildings for the waste incinerator and the treatment plant, as well as a new workshop with technical installations. The contract also includes external infrastructure, external supporting walls and the chimney base.

The new buildings will for a large part be connected to the existing heating plant. The main building will be made from concrete poured on site and prefabricated concrete. The new workshop building will be made from steel structures. Most of the water, sanitary and electro technical installations are subsystems of the incineration plant.

The processing plant will be supplied by the Swiss Company VonRoll AG in a separate contract with Trondheim Energiverk AS.

Veidekke starts the construction work in August 2004. Completion has been scheduled for September 2006. 80 per cent of the contract will, however, be completed by the end of August 2005.

"This is a very interesting and challenging contract," says District Manager Ståle Brovold.

"Veidekke Stockholm AB has a similar plant under construction in Uppsala in Sweden. On that project, a waste treatment plant for Vattenfall, Veidekke cooperates with Swiss company VonRoll and Swedish company, EIAB. We have already benefited from this project and we will continue to draw on the experience and competence that Veidekke Stockholm AB has gained," says Ståle Brovold.
