The new school is based on a project competition, which was carried out in the autumn of 2001. The school is to be built in the proximity of the Råholthallen (sports hall), and there are plans to use the new school in combination with the sports hall.

The Råholt Elementary School will have a total floor area of approximately 5,200 m2 of which 300 m2 will be in the basement.

The project will be executed as a main contract. The architect is Kristin Jarmund Arkitekter AS.

The construction work started on 1 September 2003 and will be completed by 1 September 2004.
