Veidekke to build school and day care centre in Oslo

Veidekke Entreprenør AS has signed a contract with Undervisningsbygg Oslo KF (Municipal Undertaking for Educational Buildings and Property) to build a new school for 890 pupils along with a day care centre in Fyrstikkalleen at Helsfyr. The value of the contract is NOK 171 million excluding VAT.


The school will accommodate 890 pupils in years 8 to 13, while the day care centre will have four departments for 150 children in all. In addition, the buildings will house the speech therapy service, afterschool clubs and an underground multi-purpose hall.


The contract is a general contract for construction work and represents considerable employment for Veidekke's own people skilled in the concrete, carpentry and masonry trades.  


Construction will start immediately and continue until August 2010.
