Veidekke to build school in Torpa in Innlandet county
Veidekke is to build and renovate Torpa primary and lower secondary school for Nordre Land municipality. The contract involves both a new build and renovation and erecting a multi-purpose hall. This is a design and build construction contract valued at NOK 150 million, excluding VAT.
Torpa primary and lower secondary school will emerge as a completely new school for teachers and the around 200 pupils when they move in in January 2022. Veidekke will build a new school building 4,100 m2 in size, including a swimming facility with a 12 metre pool, and an existing building of 1,200 m2 will be completely renovated. A 1,650 m2 multi-purpose hall with wardrobes will also be built in connection with the school.
“Building good school buildings is one of the most worthwhile things society can do, and one of the most meaningful things we contractors take part in. We would like to thank Nordre Land municipality for the contract and good cooperation so far, and we are now looking forward to really getting started with construction as spring progresses,” says district manager Geirmund Østvold of Veidekke Bygg.
Demolition work has already started, while building will start in April with handover scheduled before the Christmas of 2021. The contract is included in Veidekke’s backlog for the first quarter.
