Veidekke to lay more than 430,000 tons of asphalt for BetonmastHæhre

Veidekke Industri AS has entered into two contracts with BetonmastHæhre Anlegg AS to pave the Nye Veier projects E6 Kolomoen - Arnkvern and E18 Rugtvedt - Dørdal. Veidekke is also paving its own project E6 Arnkvern - Moelv, and will thus have two contiguous sections on the E6 motorway.

"We're very pleased to enter into these contracts with BetonmastHæhre. These are two major contracts where requirements toward quality are high, and we're looking forward to starting work," says Director of the Asphalt business area at Veidekke, Terje Olsen.

For E6 Kolomoen - Arnkvern work commences when the season starts in 2018 and will proceed until the summer of 2020. Here tonnage is around 250,000 tons. For E18 Rugtvedt - Dørdal tonnage is close to 180,000 tons, and work will be carried out from the autumn of 2018 and up to the autumn of 2019. In addition to the production and laying of more than 430,000 tons of asphalt up to 2020, both contracts include options for asphalt maintenance for the next 20 years. In comparison, Veidekke's overall asphalt tonnage in 2017 was 2.9 million tons.

"BetonmastHæhre has previously collaborated with Veidekke on several projects. Based on our experience we have an expectation that asphalt work will be carried out at the right time and with the agreed quality," says Knut Harstad technical director of BetonmastHæhre Anlegg.

Veidekke has a significant production and paving capacity for asphalt in both Telemark and Hedmark, and the contracts will largely be executed by competent and local professionals.

"There will also be a need to further reinforce the organization in these districts, and we're busy recruiting experienced asphalt workers and apprentices," Terje Olsen says.
