Veidekke to renovate Hökarängsskolan
Veidekke, in cooperation with subsidiary Veitech, has been awarded the contract by SISAB to renovate Hökarängsskolan. The project is a general collaboration contract valued at SEK 187 million.
Veidekke's contract includes complete renovation of Hökarängsskolan with a total floor area of 12,000 m2. The school's façade, ventilation and other facilities will be both renovated and modernised.
The building is originally from the 1950s, and has been listed by the Stockholm City Museum, which means the building is of high cultural-historic value. A challenge in the project is that blasting is required beneath the school building in order to create space for technical installations. Production will be carried out in stages, and great consideration is afforded the remaining students and staff at the school.
Hökarängsskolan is the second renovation project Veidekke is collaborating with SISAB on.
"We are very pleased and proud that SISAB has confidence in us. Now we're looking forward to starting work together to carefully modernise the beautiful Hökarängsskolan. By involving all stakeholders, we'll identify the best solutions to challenges such as underground technical facilities," says Per Wall, Head of Department with Veidekke Construction Sweden.
The project will start immediately and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2019.
"This is Veitech's first project in which we from as early as the tender phase have worked with Veidekke to create a good joint project organization with extensive installation expertise. During construction planning we have worked on careful parallel calculation and preparation of the installation parts of the project. It's very satisfying that SISAB chose to engage us and Veidekke at an early stage in the project," says Karl Stenqvist, CEO of Veitech.
"Several of SISAB's schools have cultural-historic value. As a long-term property owner, we take responsibility to manage and develop our portfolio as Stockholm grows. The project at Hökarängsskolan will ensure that the school may be used by the city's children and young people for many years to come," says Claes Magnusson, CEO of SISAB.
The contract is included in Vedekke's order backlog for the second quarter.
